Rhodes College

I went to Rhodes College for my undergrad degree, a small liberal arts college in Memphis, TN.

Rhodes places an emphasis on producing well-rounded graduates and lifelong learners. This sharpened my communication skills, both verbal and written, which I believe makes me an asset to any engineering team, especially ones that interface often with clients or other teams.

My time at Rhodes was marked by challenging projects and attentive professors. Rhodes has a student-faculty ratio of 9:1, which taught me the value of small teams and intimate collaboration. It also showed me that asking questions is not only acceptable, but sometimes necessary, and taught me how to ask specific, targeted questions and seek out answers to address gaps in my knowledge, rather than waiting for the answer to come in a lecture or slide.

A quote that hung in the lobby of our CS building, Briggs, has stuck with me:

“Realizing that the good is ever the enemy of the best, we did not seek merely the good, but the best.”

Before I attended Rhodes, I lived in Memphis for 10 years. It’s an incredible city, and a hub of art and culture. As a Day Scholar, I served as an ambassador between my city and my school, which resided in its heart. I’m always happy to talk about Memphis, or give recommendations if you plan to visit.

In 2026, I was accepted to the Online Masters in Computer Science program at the Georgia Institute of Technology, I’m on track to receive my 2nd degree in 2029.

Awards/Achievements

Placed 2nd of 25 in computation speed and efficiency during high performance computing competition.
Granted the Buckman Fellowship to study abroad at the prestigious Budapest University of Technology and Economics, one of the foremost engineering schools in Europe.
Received the Clarence Day Award for volunteer community service. Jules’ service took place at the Harrell Community Theater, a performing arts center in their hometown.
Graduated Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.75
Inducted into Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the national honor society for the computing and information disciplines with over 300 chapters worldwide.
